My Underrated Movies

MY UNDERRATED MOVIE

Ola, estoy bien?
This is my first post since I don’t have you (like a song). I mean, really, what is the best topic to begin the post after very long long ‘rest’? Yeah, it is either sport or movie. However, movie become very substantial at this moment because this year, and also last year, is the year of movielover. There is bunch of good movies. Me my self I don’t always follow the latest movie. I am enjoy watching movie from the past, 90s movies or even older. This year is an exception. It began with Fury last year. Starring Brad Pitt, I was very excited about the movie. Then there are so many many awesome movies after that. Interstellar, Birdman, The Imitation Game, Whiplash, Nightcrawler, etc.

This post will tell you about my “movie that you probably haven’t watch it yet but you have to”. The title is a bit kinky, but really, I want to share my experience of watching an entertaining movies. I wrote this post because, first I have no work to do, of course. Second, I feel it is necessary to have this kind of list because nowadays there are many conversations about me and movies. Don’t expect some famous movie like Casablanca or maybe Forrest Gump because here I just post an underrated movie. But you have to watch because it is entertaining, really.

I bet if you are a movie lover, you may have never heard about these movie. If you have heard, so then I’m wrong. I’m just trying to share experience, I give you the movies that I think underrated because there are so few people talk about it. These are not a movie like Pulp Fiction, or The Dark Knight, or even Whiplash, that every people would love to talk about because they know, or at least, they have heard it before.

I just make only 7 movies in this list because I think it will be irrelevant to consider the other as my list. Actually, I have many movie titles in my head to write down.

Here we go...

The Assassination of Jesse James by Coward Robert Ford (2007)

At first I watched this movie, it felt like the duration was so long (as long as the title). However the scenery are all awesome. This movie is not really that underrated, because some of my friend own this movie. Personally I love this movie because it has my man Brad Pitt in it, but the best thing about this movie is the performance of the rest of the casts, Brad Pitt himself, Paul Schneider, Jeremy Renner, Sam Rockell, and definetely Casey Affleck, all are awesome.

All is Lost (2013)

Legendary Robert Redford (Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid, The Sting, Out of Africa, River Runs Through It) playing a one man show in this survival movie. The story about an old man in his sinking boat in the mid of gigantic ocean. The rest is thrilling and enjoying. I love this movie, and I think this is one of the best one man movie I have ever seen, better than 127 Hours (2010), better than Buried (2010), but less better than the one that will also appear on this list.

The Road (2009)

This is also survival movie, but the set is near future. Dark and thrilling. The main story is about the father and his son survive against canibalism. I want to talk more but it will be spoiler. Some of you may not enjoy this kind of movie. I just trying to give suggestion about underrated movie. I think this movie is a great suggestion. Starring Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron.

Moon (2009)

This is probably the best one man show I have ever seen. All is Lost (2013) the one above, may great movie, but Moon is a fucking masterpiece. If you love sci-fi movie, especially about space, then you must watch this one. Enough said. Sam Rockwell is great.

The Terminal (2004)

This is a movie about the man who get lost in station. The brilliance of Tom Hanks carrying this movie so well that I could enjoy it at the first time I saw it. Don’t forget the accent too. I felt like I have to put The Terminal on this list because it simply one of Tom Hanks’ most underrated. They talk about Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, and even Da Vinci Code, but they never talk about The Terminal. It is also directed by Steven Fucking Spielberg.

The Boy in The Striped Pajamas (2008)

Anti-war is kind of favorite genre for every movielover. There are so many examples of that. La Vita e Bella, Grave of Fireflies, and the great Schlinder’s List. This is classic story about Jews vs German. Only they bring children as a subject in this movie. So heart-breaking. I don’t how about you, but I love this movie. Just give it a try.

And the last, but not the least...
True Romance (1993)

If you love an action movie, and you love bloody hell scenes, then you will probably love this movie either. The cast is all amazing. The story is about Christian Slater as a cool lover-boy, very Jack Nicholson alike, chasing his girlfriend, the one that later become an Oscar winner potraying the mother in Boyhood (2014). The best thing about this movie the cameos. If you know much about Hollywood legends, then you will notice that there are Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Brad Pitt, and Christopher Walken in this movie. This is a great great movie, about crime, about drugs, and mostly, about true romance. #nb: written by Quentin Tarantino.

That’s all. That’s only a suggestion. You can either agree or disagree, but the most important is the fact that I love those movies. Each of them!
Thanks and see you in the next post
